Red Dog: Game Rule

casino red dog rules

General Description of Red Dog

The card-based game Red Dog poker, or Red Dog, is played at the unique table using one or several (up to eight) 52-card decks without jokers. The player does not have opponents, and his victory or loss is determined only by received cards. Combinations are absent. Only values of cards are taken into account.

To win, a player needs to get a card combination for which the payout is provided.

The value of cards from a deuce to a ten is equal to face value, and the value of others increases in the following way:

  • Jack - 11
  • Queen - 12
  • King - 13
  • Ace - 14

Red Dog Gameplay

As soon as the player places a bet on a particular field, he gets two cards. Then there are several possible outcomes.

  1. If these cards are consecutive in number (in other words, their values are consecutive - a deuce and a three, a ten and a jack, a king and an ace), a draw is announced, and the player's wager is returned.
  2. If the cards have the same values, regardless of their suits, one more card is dealt. If it is of the same value, the payout for this wager is 11:1. If the third card's value differs from the first two ones, the hand is a push, and the gamer's bet is returned.
  3. If the first two cards are not consecutive in number and are not of equal values, the dealer calculates the spread between them. This spread is the number of cards between two cards arranged according to their value. Thus, the spread between an eight and a ten is one. The spread between a five and a queen is six. After calculating the spread, the player can raise the bet (it is usually allowed to double the bet, although users can increase the stake several times at some casinos.)

Then the player receives a third card. If the value of this card is between the first two ones (for example, the first two cards are a seven and a king, and the third one is a jack), the player's bet wins and is paid according to the spread table. If the third card's value is the same as one of the first two cards or beyond this gap, the player's wager loses.
